I accidentally got into a sales career and found myself in uncomfortable situations very often. It dawned upon me very late in my life that I am an introvert and these are the personality traits that make me think and act in a certain manner and there is nothing wrong with it. I was often quoted as being ‘slow’ and ‘lacking aggression’ whereas it was just that I needed more time to think and respond than my extrovert colleagues. Also, there is a common assumption that salespeople have to be aggressive, which I felt is an unnecessary form of expression most of the times when it is not needed.

Yappy little dogs??? That’s terrible. I love my extroverts!! But, ugh. Yes. Social anxiety for an extrovert (or anyone) sounds hard. To your point about relating to many of these qualities – I will say, I know a lot of extroverts who are great listeners, great friends, self aware, highly creative, and other things listed in this article. It’s not black and white, for sure. xo

It sucks to be an extrovert with social anxiety. You get the disadvantages from both sides. I’m intimidated by strangers and I hate spending time alone.
